Our MissionIt is our goal to empower these children of Sri Lanka, in order that they can one day go out into the world to lead full and independent lives. Organisation ProfileIn
1968 a Concerned Well Wisher with just two children formed the beginnings of the
Chitra Lane School/Resource Centre. As the group increased this group was
registered with the government in 1970 as the "Welfare Society for the
School for the Mentally Subnormal Child". With a tremendous amount of
dedication, and a vision to assist the intellectually impaired of the country
regardless of their ethnic, religious and socioeconomic background, the Welfare
Society's humble beginnings have been transformed over the years to its present
status. During the past 32 years a highly professional and comprehensive package
of services, including health, education, parental guidance, social integration
and vocational training has been built, catering to 250 day school going
children and about 1000 children attending the Resource Centre, from throughout
the country. Both categories consisting those from the poorest of the poor. Contact Information
